UKRR visits the Recovery Kitchen

Welcome to Everyone :-)

UK Recovery Radio Members have been very busy, researching, setting up meetings, arranging and conducting interviews for the next podcast feature.

For example, some great news for you today is:

Turning point-Zephyr launched a project called The Recovery Cafe which utilises the professional standard kitchen facilities at Summerhill house and offers opportunities to develop personal cooking skills and gain informal work experience.
Classes involve practical cookery lessons taught by a Savoy trained chef from Midland event organizors,  Eventmasters, Course length-1 day a week over 8 weeks.
You get the chance to increase your support network in the recovery community, improve your culinary skills, gain a Certificate of achievement and enhance your C.V. There is also the chance to explore further training or employment opportunities.

Today, was The recovery kitchen`s 1st graduation day and UKRR were invited to cover the event.
It was a great few hours chatting to the class that graduated and interviewing an inspirational lady by the name of Sarah Patrick, one of the graduates. An absolutely lovely young lady who had the courage to tell me a little bit about her recovery and told an emotional story and I am glad talk about Sarah because we need to see and meet recovery in order to catch the bug.

I would like to say a big WELL DONE! to Sarah and her fellow Class mates that Graduated.

Plus I kind of got interviwed myself as two ladies were really interested in UKRR and The Recovery Kitchen, had a giggle also, as us girlies do ;-)

Here are some pics of the day, for you to enjoy

  1. ... And how was the cooking? Was that politicians advice used and cooking done within the welfare benefit budget ... Is that possible :)

  2. A massive well done to all of the Recovery Kitchen graduates from the staff at Turning Point - Zephyr and Turning Point - Birmingham Drugline. Thanks to Eventmasters for really getting on board with the project and helping to make such a successful first few months, and thanks to Birmingham City Council for providing us with this opportunity. We are really looking forward to seeing how the project can develop and be led by people in recovery. Really sorry I couldn't be there! Sophie Painter, Operations Manager, Turning Point.
